Do you ever find yourself not know what question to ask next? Or Are you often getting lost in coaching conversations, chasing your client's words and looping around in circles without getting anywhere? 

Then this might sound familiar to you: I used to have a hard time figuring out what question to ask next. Especially when my client was great at rambling and the words would come at me with the speed of light. I'd be trying to listen, but at the same time I'd be preparing for the next question. This, of course, led me to not hear everything and I'd get even more lost. Once my client would stop speaking, one of two things would happen.

I either jumped on the chance to ask the next question. Or, I'd be frantically searching for my next question. My internal dialogue would take over. "OK, it's been 10 minutes now since she stopped speaking, you really need to ask your next question. She's going to think you suck at coaching." Of course, it hadn't been 10 minutes. More like 10 seconds. But it felt like an eternity. And then (internally freaking out but trying not to show it on the outside) I'd think: "She'd be right. I have no clue what I am doing. I'm a fraud. What am I doing here?"
