How To Create A Coaching Program

A well-developed coaching program that solve a big, bleeding neck problem, is what sets you up for being able to charge a healthy fee.

Not only that, it's what is at the foundation of creating FREEDOM for yourself.

It's also one of the major missing links between taking a coach training and then setting up your coaching business.

You might be wondering: "How do I create a coaching program?"

It's a question I get asked a lot. In fact, most coaches I talk to have a hard time with this. It's not something that we learn during a coach training, other than at a theoretical level.

And yet, is super important for you to build a successful business and make a bigger impact for more people.

Without having a coaching program you'll be stuck coaching 1-to-1 and you'll waste a lot of time repeating the same kind of work that you could have otherwise leveraged.

It means that you don't get to work with as many people as you could, whilst getting them the same (if not a bigger) result than if you were to work only 1-to-1.

Also, if you're having a hard time pricing your services and you're stuck in the $80-per-hour frame of mind, you probably don't have a powerful coaching program in place.

(In addition to probably needing to re-evaluate your relationship with money and not yet feeling confident you can make a life-changing difference in someone's life)

So how DO you create a coaching program?

First, you need to pick the problem you want to solve. One that you are absolutely passionate about solving for people.

Second, remember that coaching is all about structure and not about content? And that you were told you can coach anyone and everyone?

While it's true that you can coach anyone...you're not actually making the most of the basic principle that coaching is all about structure.

Here's what I mean with that. If you choose one problem to solve, and you work with clients who all have that 1 problem, you'll MUCH FASTER start to recognize the structure of that problem. That makes sense, right? Well, that's exactly what you'll need to create a coaching program that actually gets your clients the life-changing results they want.

Why? Because once you know the structure of someone's problem, you'll be able to identify where the change power is. Without knowing that, you'll not be able to get lasting results.

The others day I was talking to my client Beth. She has been doing really well building her FB group of very well qualified leads (over 1000 in 2 weeks!) and she is now booking sales conversations, which went a lot faster than she had expected. So she now needed to work on getting her program up and running.

While she had already done a lot of research on the topic she works with (thriving after narcissistic abuse), and she had spoken with a lot of women who struggle with that problem, she needed some support in turning that into a powerful program.

We brainstormed all the different areas in which these women are struggling that cause them to stay stuck in toxic relationships. We identified several critical areas in which they are stuck and where the change power is. That last part is super critical. It's easy to just build something that deals with the symptoms, have them do some journalling, do daily affirmations, etc, but that's not going to get them the results they need.

In this case, they need to know with every fiber of their being that just because they have allowed someone to break them down, it says nothing about who they are as a person. Their history doesn't define them. There's often a lot of shame involved, and that's because they confuse the mistakes they have made (not leaving sooner, for example) with who they are as a person.

They also need to be able to set healthy boundaries (not too flexible, not too rigid) and follow through on those boundaries. The thing is, though, they can learn all about boundaries, but if we don't deal with their fear of abandonment ("I'll never be loved again"), they won't follow through on those boundaries because anxiety will take over.

There's more to it, but you get the gist of it.

What did this process do for Beth? It means she can now start to work on materials that her clients can work through and identify what she'll do 1-to-1, what she'll have her clients do by themselves, and what part she'll do in group coaching.

This, of course, also suggests that she CAN, in fact, deliver the program at a high quality. Thankfully we've made sure that's no problem for her.

Now, if you're wondering whether working in small groups gets the same results as working one-on-one, here's a few benefits from working in a group:

- They can learn from each other. Very often questions will get asked that they weren't thinking of themselves...or perhaps were afraid to ask.

- They see that they're not the only ones struggling with this and can build connections to inspire one another

- They continue to have access to the materials, which means they get to watch videos and listen to audios over and over again. As a coach you have an opportunity to record change processes specifically geared to your client's problem and solution, which means they don't get the experience just once but they can work through it until it is embodied.

These are just a few benefits for the clients. For Beth, it also means she can charge a healthy fee for her services, because she knows she is getting her clients amazing results.

Just a few months ago Beth had no niche, she didn't feel comfortable charging for her services because she wasn't able to dive deep and she didn't know how to identify where someone's change power is. And now we were able to have a conversation about a very specific problem that she knows inside and out, and can pinpoint the leverage points.

In her marketing and sales, she is able to show her authority in this field and the women in her group are constantly saying: "Wow, you just described ME completely!"

If you want those kinds of results, too, then send me an email and let me know you are interested.

Big love,

Femke
